Meet Jessie aka Hungry Grl, she is a writer, influencer, and a foodie from Northern, New Jersey, born and raised. She is determined, outspoken, and adventurous. This is her story as a creator.
Q: What is your title, what do you do?
A: Currently, I have a few titles! I’m a Founder & Business Owner for Hungry Grl Big City LLC, the brand I started about 3 years ago. I also am a Social Media Specialist at a marketing firm.
Q: How did you get into the business you are in today?
A: Out-of-class experience. I always took an interest to social media, especially Instagram, and kind of just took off with it.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you had to face & overcame?
A: In recent months, it’s been my dedication to my brand and questioning if I can actually turn it into something worthwhile. It’s hard to pursue your own path when you also realize finance security is important, but now I’m working on taking a risk and making my brand something that’s known to others.
Q: What is your work motto?
A: “Work hard, eat well, and stay hungry.” This is also in the bio of my Instagram page!
Q: What is the best advice to give someone who is interested in this industry?
A: Don’t doubt yourself, and be as genuine as you can. No one wants to engage with content that isn’t authentic and is just created to “fit in” or it’s trendy. Use your unique voice and talk to those that are in the same industry, because that’s such important networking for you.”
Q: What do you like most about this industry?
A: I like how new it is and there is so much room to try new things. It’s so important to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and putting yourself out there! I love how much impact my account has had and how people can relate to what I post about.
Q: What would you want to tell your 15-year-old self?
A: TAKE. NO. SHIT. Be yourself and don’t compare your journey to others.
Q: What does girl power mean to you?
A: It’s so important to lift each other up, and not just ourselves. This can be helping a fellow female that’s being harassed by a cat caller, or just commenting on their Instagram to hype them up. Supporting each other as a community is so valuable.
Q: Anything else you want to share?
A: If you love food, please follow me! My inbox is always open to talk about content creation, food, self-confidence, and how to break into the industry. @hungrygrl_bigcity
